A young couple asked us to renovate an old studio of just 25 m² near the beach at Aiguablava, on the Costa Brava. We approached it as a beach-inspired hotel suite with two clearly defined zones: a bedroom that doubles as a sitting room, with a compact kitchen, and a full bathroom.
All the furniture was made to measure and multifunctional, to use every centimetre: a wardrobe, a table with a pull-out top for eating and a small fridge underneath. A compact kitchen with induction hob, sink, tall cupboards and integrated extractor fits into the hallway.
Floors and walls are finished in continuous microcement by Edfan in a soft sand tone, pleasant underfoot. With no joints, it makes the space feel larger, and its thinness meant the finishes could be renewed without raising the floor. Lighting is by Artemide.
