Aiguablava Beach Studio — Complete Renovation, Costa Brava

This complete interior renovation project was commissioned by a young couple who owned a 25 m² studio flat just steps from Aiguablava beach, one of the most sought-after coastal spots on the Costa Brava, Catalonia.

The design concept reimagines the space as a boutique hotel suite by the sea — maximising every square metre through intelligent layout and fully bespoke furniture.

Two hotel-inspired zones

Following the logic of a luxury hotel suite, the studio is divided into two clearly defined areas: a combined bedroom and living space with a kitchenette, and a full bathroom. This separation creates a sense of spaciousness rarely found in compact holiday properties.

Made-to-measure, multifunctional furniture

Every piece of furniture was designed and built to measure, serving multiple functions to optimise storage in a small footprint. Key elements include a built-in wardrobe, a dining table with a pull-out surface, and an integrated mini fridge beneath. The hallway houses a fully functional mini kitchen fitted with an induction hob, sink, generous wall-mounted units, and a concealed extractor hood — ideal for a holiday home or short-term rental property on the Costa Brava.

Seamless microcement finish by EDFAN

The entire floor and walls are clad in a continuous microcement finish by EDFAN in a soft sand tone — evoking the feeling of walking barefoot on the beach. This signature material choice is increasingly popular in high-end coastal renovations across Spain for four key reasons:
