Complete renovation of an old house in Begur on the Costa Brava

ETNA STUDIO Interior Design presents a new project in Begur: tradition and contemporary design

At ETNA STUDIO Interior Design, specialists in interior design in Barcelona and on the Costa Brava, we have completed an exclusive comprehensive renovation project in the heart of Begur, in collaboration with the architect Jordi Cuadrado. This project combines the architectural essence of an old house with the comforts and style offered by the latest trends in interior design and decoration.

A renovation with soul

The project has respected the original identity of the property as much as possible, restoring authentic features and using traditional materials such as natural stone and lime mortar.

The stone flooring we proposed won over the owners, who travelled to Ostuni, Puglia, to meet our supplier www.tramedipietra.com.

It comes from local quarries where it is commonly used in traditional Masserie, which are similar to Catalan farmhouses.

Apulian stone is very solid and withstands the test of time, knocks and wear and tear well. It is ideal for high-traffic areas (living rooms, patios, entrances) and brings a unique Mediterranean character, with warm tones (white, cream, beige, gold).

Its appearance ages gracefully and adds personality. It is a local and natural material, with a low environmental impact compared to industrial ceramics or synthetic materials. Its durability avoids frequent replacements.

The original wooden doors and frames have also been stripped and restored, restoring their warmth and character. The exposed stone walls have been cleaned and consolidated to maintain their texture and timeless beauty.

Spaces connecting indoors and outdoors

The kitchen, by Armony Cucine, opens directly onto a large outdoor patio that becomes the social heart of the home. Here we find a cosy seating area for relaxation, a spacious dining table for al fresco dining, and a swimming pool clad in the same natural stone as the floors, creating visual continuity and a unique atmosphere.

In addition to the aesthetic care, the property features new hot water, air conditioning and geothermal heating systems, ensuring efficiency, sustainability and comfort all year round.
